Verses
on Giving
Psalm 37:3-4 NKJV
Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the
land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight
yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Proverbs
3:9-10 NIV
Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;
then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with
new wine
Proverbs 11:24
NKJV
There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds
more than is right, but it leads to poverty.
Proverbs 11:25
NKJV
The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered
himself
Proverbs 15:6
NKJV
The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked
brings them trouble.
Proverbs 22:9
NKJV
A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.
Proverbs 28:27
AMP
He who gives to the poor will not want, but
he who hides his eyes [from their want] will have many a curse.
Malachi 3:6-12
NIV
6
"I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not
destroyed. 7 Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned
away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to
you," says the LORD Almighty. "But you ask, 'How are we to return?' 8
"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, 'How do we rob
you?' "In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse-the
whole nation of you-because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole
tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in
this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the
floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room
enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and
the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the LORD
Almighty. 12 "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for
yours will be a delightful land," says the LORD Almighty.
Luke 6:38
NIV
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together
and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it
will be measured to you.
2 Corinthians 8:7-9
NIV
7But
just as you excel in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete
earnestness and in your love for us--see that you also excel in this grace of
giving. 8I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of
your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others. 9For you
know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your
sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.
2 Corinthians 9:6-11
NIV
6Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and
whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7Each man should
give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under
compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make
all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you
need, you will abound in every good work. 9As it is written: "He
has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures
forever." 10Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for
food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the
harvest of your righteousness. 11You will be made rich in every way
so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity
will result in thanksgiving to God.
Galatians 6:7-9
NIV
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who
sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the
one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will
reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Philippians 4:18-19
NKJV
Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received…the things sent from
you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by
Christ Jesus.
